Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: June 12, 2026
Purpose
CapCue is a tool for real-time captioning, accessibility, meeting assistance, and interview preparation. This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) sets out how you may and may not use it. It is part of our Terms of Service. You are responsible for how you use CapCue and for complying with all laws that apply to you.
Recording and transcribing audio — your responsibility
CapCue can capture and transcribe your computer’s system audio, which may include other people’s voices (for example, in a call or meeting). Laws on recording and transcribing conversations vary by country, state, and region — some require the consent of all parties, others of at least one party.
You are solely responsible for obtaining any consent or providing any notice the law requires before you capture or transcribe audio that includes other people. Do not use CapCue to record or transcribe anyone where doing so would be unlawful.
Interviews, exams, and other rules that apply to you
CapCue’s interview support, stealth mode, and related features are provided for legitimate preparation, accessibility, and personal productivity. Many interviews, examinations, certifications, employers, and platforms have their own rules about outside assistance, recording, or screen visibility.
You are responsible for ensuring your use of CapCue complies with those rules and with applicable law. Do not use CapCue to cheat, to gain an unfair or prohibited advantage, to deceive a person or organization where honesty is required, or otherwise in a way that violates rules that apply to you. CapCue is not responsible for consequences arising from your use in breach of such rules.
Specifically, you must not use CapCue for deception, impersonation, fraud, or cheating on a job interview, exam, certification, or assessment — or to record or transcribe any person without the consent required by law.
Participant notice — a template you can use
Where you need to notify others that a call is being captioned or transcribed, you can adapt the following: “Heads up — I’m using CapCue to generate live captions of this call, and the transcript may be saved on my device. If you’d prefer not to be captioned or transcribed, please let me know.”
This template is a convenience, not legal advice. The notice and consent the law requires depend on your location and circumstances; you are responsible for meeting those requirements.
Prohibited uses
You may not use CapCue to: break the law or infringe others’ rights (including privacy and intellectual-property rights); record or transcribe people without legally required consent; harass, defraud, or deceive others unlawfully; use AI-generated captions, summaries, or suggestions to impersonate someone, plagiarize, cheat, or create unlawful, harmful, or infringing content; attempt to disrupt, overload, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its providers; circumvent usage limits, security, or licensing; or resell or sublicense the Service without our permission.
Third-party services
CapCue relies on third-party providers (including AssemblyAI for transcription and OpenAI for AI features). Your use must also comply with their acceptable-use rules.
Enforcement
If we reasonably believe you have violated this AUP, we may suspend or terminate your access, with or without notice, and take any other action permitted by our Terms or the law. Suspected illegal activity may be reported to the authorities.
